Export documentation
Exporting a vehicle involves more than arranging transport. COLOUR POT helps coordinate the paperwork relevant to your vehicle, transaction, shipping route and destination. The documents below are examples of records or authorisations that may be required; not every export requires every item.
A request or application step used to initiate the relevant vehicle-clearance process. It is not itself the final police clearance certificate. Requirements and procedures should be confirmed with the responsible authority.
A vehicle-clearance document issued through the applicable police process for relevant cross-border vehicle transactions. Whether it is required, and how it is obtained, depends on the vehicle and the authorities involved.
An export authorisation from the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa when the vehicle or transaction falls under applicable permit controls. Supporting documents and approval requirements must be checked for each case.
The customs declaration used to provide relevant export information, such as the exporter, goods, value and destination. The declaration and supporting information must meet the applicable SARS customs requirements.
Records the seller and buyer, vehicle details, transaction value and relevant sale terms. The appropriate invoice supports the export transaction and customs valuation process.
Records used to check the vehicle's registration details, VIN or chassis number, and the seller's authority to transact. The exact supporting records depend on the vehicle's status and the relevant process.
Transport documentation associated with the chosen shipping method. A bill of lading is generally used for sea freight, while road transport may use a consignment note or other applicable transport record.
A document identifying a product's country of origin when requested by the destination authority, buyer or trade arrangement. Eligibility for preferential tariff treatment depends on the applicable rules of origin.
Exporter registration details and customs identifiers that may be needed for the relevant declaration and clearance process. Applicable registration obligations should be verified with SARS or the appointed customs representative.
